I'm not the best with sketchup so forgive me, where the telly bit is in the chimney breast there used to be a fire, but it was offset, having OCD I cannot handle that so I have altered the chimney to be central to the room, ignoring that sticky outy bit that hides all the pipework.

Banging a sofa in so that the center of the sofa lines up with the center of the TV it overlaps my dining room double doors :-(

Any ideas? I have thought about putting curtains up over the doors as we always access the dining room from the utility anyway, this is doing my head in, it must be the worse designed living room in the world.

Furniture aint mine, just got it from 3d warehouse to see.

other option is to center it taking the whole room into account, unsure on the looks - off to play with sketchup again!

If there is no fire, do you need the chimney breast now..?

True OCD wpu;d surely mean that you'd build out from the fireplace wall, exactly the same depth as the pipe covering cupboard, meaning you could centralise the telly on the actual room, not one bit of wall, thus moving the sofa left, clearing the doors.

You might want to look at using that new cupboard space to hide DVD collections and wiring in.

Well it houses all the av stuff in my design, if it was not there the tv would be on the wall in the same place,

I've tried another way - see what you think.

Oh, the chimney breast needs to be deeper than the other bit so its enough to slide the sky box and stuff into.

Place the tv absolutely centrally on the ceiling and view from a bed.

Actually it's a lot quicker just to move the damn furniture about, than to make a 3-D model and post it on the internet for advice!!

Of course you'll get horrible neck ache watching the TV but that's you choice, fashion over function.

Not really because,

A - Its not built yet

B - I don't have the furniture yet

Final design will have the center of the TV at eye level, my dad came up with an idea to alter the cavity wall behind it so that it doesn't stick out that much, I think I might run with that.
