Wood Burning stoves
Discussion
I had one installed last year - stove made by nestor martin - absolutely brilliant, chucks out a lot of heat and can be used to burn either wood or coal. Can't suggest fitters in surry, but can recommend one in yorkshire! If your chimney is already lined and in good condition you should be able to fit it yourself, but get some help they're heavy!
We are on our second one, and plan to buy another soon
Very nice ambience and good heat, but obviously some maintenance...
We bought our first one from these people http://www.dorkingstoves.com/ and you should talk to them. We bought our second one from eBay (used) and I fitted it, but you do need to ensure that the chimney draws smoke up it properly.
Do it

there are a few ins and outs of putting one in, particularly if the chimney is going to need a liner,
then you have to conform to building regs.

We got a Jotul600 three years ago and although it seemed expensive at the time(£2k supplied and fitted)it has been fantastic. Very clean and boy does it throw out some heat. Alot of installers sell you their chimney liners at £50 per metre, check your chimney actually needs it before shelling out a few hundred pounds needlessly.

Its not cos I is lazy...
its because it has a built in Thermostat function -
In other words, fill the stove right up with fuel. Light it on Max setting, leave the remote set to 22 deg or whatever and go elsewhere (pub, kitchen, walk the dog etc) - meanwhile as the stoves heats up and gets the room warm the remote slowly turns the dial back down to a more reasonable setting.
Jobs a good un

If I recall it was only £60 extra - definitely worth it for the above functionality.
(and you can never have too many remotes can you
