Recently our Volkera combi boiler has been cutting out after its been on for a while. We have to leave it for a few minutes then reset it with the button on the front. British Gas have had a look and drained some water out the system and it was pretty dirty looking. The only thing they can suggest is a power flush but want over £500 for it. Any suggestions on possible cheaper / easier fixes would be appreciated.

Provided the overheat thermostat isn't faulty it soes sound circulation related. Crap pump or sludged system most likely. How old is the boiler? How old is the system?

House is 1950s but think all the pipes were replaced approx 15 years ago. Boiler is approx 10 years old I think

No mistake £500 (five hundred). Had a sharp intake of breathe myself when he came out with that. System had a chemical flush about 5 years ago so this is next logical step apparently. Thinking I might be as well getting a new boiler and getting local firm to do the full lot.
