Dirty water in the washing machine

Why would the drawers that feed the washing machine the conditioner and other stuff be so dirty? They are covered in a soft black stuff.

For those who don't know the washing machine is that noisy thing in the corner that you've seen clothes go into

Is it a washer dryer?

Sometimes washer driers need to run an anti fluff cycle or all the 'lint' builds up inside.

It is a washer dryer, we couldn't see anything in the instructions about an anti-lint cycle though, which is why we are confused...

Try running it on a hot wash every few weeks. Cooler washes don't kill of the bacteria that live in the machine. Also the drawer is easily removed for cleaning if required

It's a problem with modern "green" detergents. Run a hot wash with some traditional washing soda once a month.

If it's a cold fill machine (as most newish ones are, I think) then a hot wash wont affect the drawer.

Just remove it and clean it.

It is a cold feed only machine. SWIMBO has cleaned the drawer, and we'll run a hot wash as well to see if that helps.
