Hey folks,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality home CCTV camera set up to monitor the cars and the gateways to our property?

I have seen one wireless kit in Screwfix for £160 which has a 15 mtr night vision range ( they claim) and records to an SD card like the ones we use in our cameras. How would I aim the camera without seeing the image at the moment of aiming?

Is wireless as reliable as wired I wonder?

It is illegal to aim a camera onto other peoples property I hear but does that include a field which may be in the background when a camera looks at our gateway from the house.

Cheers

T

Hi Tafia,

I think you should ask MILF dave. He lives diagonally opposite your shed.

Clear pix? Any facility for recording events?

I had heard that Maplins stuff is good

Yes clarity was fine, we had 3 cams, one over garage, one over front door and one facing the approach to the house.... they would automatically flip to the movement (although there was a slight delay of a second or two) we used to record constantly through a VHS recorder.

They have a couple of different cams at Maplins - we got the best they had at the time - sure they must have improved by now as this was about 5 years ago.

Bought 2 camera system from B&Q. Cost me £125.00

Two motion sensor, infra-red cameras (colour in daytime, black n white at night), plus a recorder including SD card. It will record from one camera only, which can be a pain, but I have it set so that it takes photos rather than video and has one camera inset in the other if that makes sense. It records every time motion sensor activates, and records over itself when it runs out of memory.

Going to put a second recorder in at some stage and another camera, but unsure which way to go yet.
