twice now we've been mucked about by the same plumber.it's a really really small job but:
a) that's irrelevant
b) we've got loads of other jobs that he doesn't know about and won;t get these now either!

What is it with these people? the 'real' economy clearly is in good shape such that you can afford to let down people in the same village who'd have used you...!

clearly these people don;t need the money!

luckily a PH contact may be the answer but still..

Luckily we are in bed with quite a few tradesmen as my missus passes them work through her work, so they tend to do cash jobs for us and make sure that they do a good job, but yes there are far to many clowns out there.

A mate got a chap in recommended by a mate of hers to lay laminate flooring in her downstairs toilet. Simple 2 hour tops job. The guy did a terrible job and even managed to slash her hall carpet because he was sawing on the floor.

When she refused to pay as the guy had caused more damage than the value of the job plus made an utter hash of it he got very rude and threatening towards a single lady in her 30's and intimidated her into paying. Bog man or what.

I've seen the work and not only is the quality of the work totally shocking, to the point that it looks like a 6 year old has done it, but the hall needs a new carpet and the loo has now spang a leak where he didn't reseal the bog...

And the best bit. The bill was £250, cash, no receipt, for what I could and would have done on a Saturday morning for £20 in 2 hours...

And when they do turn up they inevitably get it wrong.... the last spark I had managed to connect a massive AC heatpump backwards to the power supply... consequently blew a hole in my consumer unit!

Do it yourself if you want the job done properly!

So you'd get out of bed on a Saturday morning for £20?

Tell you what, I've got a shed load of jobs I can't be arsed to do. Can you call me so that we can arrange a couple of weekends worth of work at £10 per hour. smile
