I am looking to buy a two bed cottage, I will have to buy it from the photos as I can not get back to the Uk to see it, I know the area, the house needs to be rewired, before I make an offer can anyone give me a rought cost for rewiring a 300 year old stone cottage two bed?

Rewiring a small cottage could amount to somewhere in the region of £6000-£8000 depending on the make up of the structure and the level of fittings etc. that you require.
Don't however buy the property on the basis of the selling agent's photographs!
Contact a local Architect or Surveyor and ask them to check the property over for you.

I had a 5 bed house completely re-wired & certificated by NICEIC registered electricians for £ 1,640.00 two years ago. Plus £ 270.00 for a new dist board. Only existing fittings and switches though as these were replaced seperately.

You should be able to get a two bed done for just over a grand, will be some disruption though i.e lifting carpets / floorboards.

As above, don't buy on the strength of photos, if you like it that much, get a surveyor to look at it for about £ 250.00.

We would charge around £3500 for a rewire and consumer unit tested with all paper work.
