Hope someone can help with this, I have a second-hand washer/dryer bought reconditioned 3 years ago. Lately I've noticed a small puddle of water coming from under the machine, last night I finally got round to taking the back-plate off and having a poke around inside it.

There seems to be a seamless plastic casing around the drum, and the only place that was wet seems to be a small hole about half-way up this plastic casing. I'm not sure if this hole is supposed to be there, but it seems to be where the 'leak' is coming from. Now I'm wondering if there's supposed to be a plug of some kind which has fallen out with the many house moves I've had over the past 3 years. On the other hand I could just block the hole with a rubber bung???

The other thing is that I've been told there should be a drain pump filter that should be cleaned regularly. Now, as I got the machine second-hand there's no instructions. I've looked in obvious places like behind the bottom front panel and even had a good poke about last night - but I'm stumped as it doesn't seem to have any kind of filter?

For anyone in the know, the machine details are:

Hoover Softwave Washer/Dryer 1100
Model: A8754

The part number which is stamped on the plastic casing round the drum is E42421-543-CH

Any ideas welcomed ta!

Internet says no.

I can't find anything to help you, from a brief googling.

Combined washer/dryers are notorious for problems. You might be best to just ditch it and buy two separate appliances, either new or s/h. Go for 'decent' brands, especially if s/h, and you should be OK.

My parents put up with a Zerowatt washer/dryer for much longer than they should have done...

Thanks, gives me a couple of ideas to try, looks like the hole at the back is for a purpose so I can't just 'bung' it up!

Can't afford another machine, either second-hand or new, so I'm going to have to try and nurse this one along for another few months at least!

one of the hoover washers has a self cleaning internal filter, that being self cleaning and internal ends up blocked, it is in the drain pipe inside the machine and is accessible just check the details.
