Clear varnish over emulsion?

Hi,

Quick question, can I put clear varnish over emulsion, or will it end up a sticky mess?

Bit of background, I've made my son a toy box/bench - primered,undercoated and glossed in white. I've routed out 2 Gordini stripes (in keeping with the car theme)on the back rest, lid and front panel. His walls are light blue on 2x walls and darker blue 2x walls. I can't get gloss to match the colours of emulsion, so was going to use emulsion to paint the grooves, then varnish all of it.

You can get paints made up in any colour if they've got a mix and match machine at your local DIY place.

I've always assumed it was just emulsion - I've seen them but never used them!

Yup, gloss and emulsion, just take a sample along and they'll make whatever you want
