Chalk Arrows on Driveway = Burglary?

Have noticed today that someone has daubed a couple of chalk arrows on the pavement at the end of my driveway which seemed strange.

Am I being paranoid in thinking this could be a sign of some cretins planning on burgling my house/car??

Scrub it out, get some chalk and do the same symbol pointing up your neighbours driveway. If they get burgled, you know to scrub it if it appears again, if not, its probably kids/council/faries.

No it is just a thin chalk arrow, not the proper stuff.

"Men of the road", ie tramps, used to mark houses which offered them hospitality with chalk, in order to notify their fellow travellers that a warm welcome awaited them.

Can't see this happening these days. I reckon it's Al Qaeda marking your house out for a suicide bomb attack.

I've noticed these randomly at our work leading to the vacant building. No-one seems to know where they came from. Landlord hasn't mentioned owt either.

Maybe I should put this on the "Do you believe in ghosts?" thread.

Not wishing to increase your paranoia, but yes I've heard of this too... especially on properties owned by English on the Costa Brava (which I am guessing may have put the idea in your head too) and also pick-pockets putting chalk on people in the cashpoint queue.
