The fan oven part of our Stoves Precision 1100 has just died, everything else is working fine (gas hob, reg oven and grill) is all working fine. Any ideas on where to start to fix it?

The heating element I would guess. This happened to a range cooker i had a few years ago so ordered one and fitted it myself. There were only 4 screws that held it in place on the back.

I read it to mean that the fan isn't going round.

The same happened to me a few weeks ago. It was the element and cost about £50 for the part and fitting.

Does it have a switch on the door to turn the fan off when you open it? Just a thought, it could be that.

On a different tack, but still to do with fan ovens, why oh why can I not find a solution to turning off the ridiculous fan, which kicks in when I turn off the oven. Total waste of electricity.

Don’t think its the heating element as the light and fan won't turn on as well as the oven not heating up.

If the ordinary oven works, with light, I'd suspect the switch (but I know nothing really)

You should be able to get a new fan, or if you can open up the oven, the fan just needs some WD-40 to get it lubricated for turning... Don't waste money on a new fan, until you have tried to save it... Also, try not to switch it on, as the element will burn out, without the fan despersing the heat..

Going to take it apart tonight to have a proper look
Even if we turn it on the heating element is not coming on, show by red light on cooker front.
Am hoping that if the fan dies then the element won't come on.

Ovens have their own circuits because of the heavy current usage. Has the fuse gone or circuit breaker tripped? Fuses carrying heavy currents sometimes get bored and just expire after a while even though they have never exceeded their capacity.

Usually if just the element or the fan goes everything else carries on.

Could be a door switch has failed/broken. Points this because the light does not work.

Just had a similar thing on a DeDietrich.

Crap design, the switch has a little plastic peg which pokes out round the frame, according to the repair man it either (a) gets broken off when cleaning, or (b) goes brittle from the heat of the oven and then breaks when the oven door hits it.

£40 for the part, because it also locks the door when self-cleaning,£70 for Labour, fitting and callout charge.
