Can someone recommend me a steam-cleaner?

Father in law wants one for general house-hold use and engines etc.

Are the sub £100 ones a false economy?

Just bought a Karcher for £150 - so far it done a good job of our shower.

I've got a Simac one that I paid about £150 for and it's fantastic, it cleaned all around the nooks and crannies of the manky cooker etc in the house we were renting, cleaned the grouting, the shower and all the places that I really didn't fancy cleaning! It also cleaned up some really nasty ink stains off a light coloured carpet and saved us our deposit!

I made the decision that the cheap ones were probably a false economy. The one thing I did find was that the cheap ones can't be refilled while you're using them, you have to let them cool down before you can top them up and start again.

I've got a Polti one, can you get wall paper stripper attachments for them then? Any good?

Polti machines are very good, have had ours for 7 years and works brilliantly. Very versatile too!
