Looking at buying a pressure test kit, to dry check the central heating system before water starts being pumped through it. Thought it might be a good idea as all the ceilings have just been plastered and could end up costly in the long run.

I have seen a Monument test gauge for about £30 and a complete kit for £140.

Anyone got any recommendations before I buy ?
Also if you just buy the gauge how do you get your compressor/foot pump, etc... to tightly fit the pipe so pressure can build up ?

Any help and advice as always appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

Why buy when you're probably only going to use it the once?

Hire it from the likes of HSS.

Some builders/contractors/clients do insist on you testing the pipework and producing a test report before they lay the floor.

This is a good price and contact me if you want an example test cert.

I never even thought of the hire route, will only need it for a day, so has got to be worth doing.

What sort of bar/psi pressure do you test the pipes upto ? Obviousily to much and if something gives it will go off like a rocket.

Im guessing you put maybe 2/3 bar in the pipework and leave for 15 minutes and make sure the pressure hasn`t dropped ?? Is that about right ?

We pressurise to 4 Bar. A sealed system will lift it's relief valve at 3 Bar.
