Seeing as how the sparkies tend to live in this forum I thought this would be the best place to post!

My GF requires PAT testing to be carried out on all appliances in her premises but rather than spending x amount of £££s getting a contractor in I've volunteered my services.

As a techie in the RAF I'm qualified to do it at work but I've no idea if this would relate to the outside world.

Is there a specific qualification required and WRT registering the items is it simplay a case of being held locally in the buisness in question?

ta!

Its pretty basic stuff, any qualified sparks should be able to do it.

Yeah, I'm 'lucky' enough to do it all at work but I was wondering whether there was a specific qualification requirement in civvie street. (i hate that phrase!!)

I know of a company that has all the gear and software and do it themselves. Seem to get away with it and are up to speed with H and S

No problem. Just make sure the plugs are properly labelled.

I did the City and Guilds 2377 Course at Blackburn College about 6 few years ago. This was followed by a 1hour exam some weeks later.

It appears that the exam is done online now
