Afternoon all.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can increase the humidity in my flat? Its down to 30% and i feel like i am drying out. The heating is on as low as i can bear and i have a couple of windows on tilt most of the time.

The best idea i have had so far is leaving the lid of the fish tank open.

Any suggestions?

Dry your laundry washing inside the house on a clothes airer as opposed to using a tumble drier.

Shower on hottest setting; leave it running on full for an hour.

Four pans of water boiling on the hob will help too.

Just leave a bucket of water in the corner of the room/down behind the sofa etc.

question has to be, why is it too dry? have you got a mechanical ventilation system fitted? Air heating? If so then any of the other alternatives may just end up fighting it - easier to find the control panel and turn down the dehydrating effect.

You must be getting static shocksbiggrin
I just checked your location as I guessed you weren't in UK.
You need a large surface area of water to provide even a slight increase in humidity. You'll have to buy a humidifier that has a humidistat on it.(if you are only at 30%)

I have one that does my whole house, works well, but it does get slimey and horrid inside, they have to cleaned.

Still with low humidity the plus is that we don't have to scrape windsheilds in the Winter.biggrin

I need some tips on how to get rid of humidity in my flat. This time of year the window sills and frames go mouldy, black patches appear in the corners of rooms and everyone who comes round complains of getting sweaty.

So as for getting more moisture in the air, I can recommend drying your clothes on a rail instead of a tumble dryer, shutting all the windows and turning the heat up.
