Have just removed a double shaver socket from main bathroom as SWMBO wnats to have two wall lights either side of a bathroom mirror.
So, I now have a large hole where the double socket casing was plus the chasing (1/2 metre)to fill. The wall is concrete block.

Been to the local builders merchant and found I can only buy bonding in a very large 25kg bag. There is no way I am going to use all this so dont want to waste it.

Is there anything else that I can use other than bonding. ? I know I'll need to finish plaster afterwards..

Cheers

Kev

I use Lightweight Plaster (B&Q own brand) - £8.10 for a bucketful. It's not really like plaster, it's a light, grey filler that's very easy to work, dries quickly and it fills up to 2" without shrinking (although at that depth it will take a day or two to dry properly as it sets by evaporation). It's also very easy to sand afterwards and gives a good surface.

ETA: It's ready mixed, no farting about with water and dust.

Pop to your nearest building site Kev, find out where the dryliners are working then ask for half a bag of bonding!

^^^Wrong type of Bonding.

Same as Wings, get a small bag of one coat.

Steve, did think of that and called a builder mate of mine. He has a plasterer doing some work next week and said he'd send him round but I need to get it started by tomorrow as the sparky is coming back Tuesday to fit the new lights. So everything needs to have gone off by then.....

Send some in the post bud wink

Not the wrong kind at all, other than sticking sheets of plasterboard to block walls it is very good for filling holes such as Kev described, it sets hard and is stodgy enough when mixed to fill most holes in one go.

Stop by and pick it up Kev! wink
