well i got sick of having my feeble attempts at lighting a fire make me look like a cock, lol so i heard about of these little babies from an old guy at my local track, so i did some reasearch and now have a brand new gas poker for lighting the open fire. i can honestly say its friggin brilliant, it lights the fire in 5 mins flat no messing, no drama, nothink. also the brass fitting that come up from floor look rather cool!!! very very chuffed, my and girlfriend dont look to impressed by the flamethrower effect ,, lol!! just wondering has anyone got one fitted?

Good move , as a kid I used to always light the fire so I could get to play with the gas poker smile

I thought they were illegal these days? Where do you get them from? Guess Google is my friend!

We have the gas outlet pipe by the hearth but it has been capped off, be wonderful to uncap it and have a gas poker instead.

We used to have them for all our fire places and coal fired boiler until we switched to gas fires and boiler with central heating. I am thinking of going back to an open fire and burning wood on it so I might dig the old poker out.

Haven't used one for years, but they certainly beat firelighters!

Interesting .... we had a gas poker at home when I was a kid. I've never seen one anywhere else, before or since, and everytime I have described one people have given me odd looks.

Great to know that they do exist in universes other than the one I grew up in!

Farkin 'ell, those things can't be legal! A bit of hand-held metal, a bit of flexi pipe, plumbed into the mains gas and with a flame at the end... eek

(Although like most things that aren't health and safety approved, it no doubt works brilliantly!)

Edited for accuracy/specificicity...specificity...specificty... specificness?

Not one that you can pick up and wave around whilst it's on... (at least without Herculean effort) wink

We had one when I was a kid. One of our fireplaces has the socket, but I've checked and it's not connected. I must look into getting some sockets fitted.
