So...my neighbour, who I get on well with is having a load of building work done.

One of his hired monkeys decided today to park on my land rather than land belonging to his customer. It's pretty clear that it isn't land belong to my neighbours property (a 3ft high boundary wall gives the game away).

There is a parking space at the rear of my property, and had he stuck his van in that it would not have been the end of the world, but the space was occupied by my car, so instead he decided to park next to my car.

This involved driving onto a raised lawn - bordered by a railway sleepers - so it's not like it could be mistaken for another space. The tree in the middle of the lawn is also a bit of a giveaway.

Not so much of a word of an apology from the neanderthal and the lawn is buggered, and the sleepers need some tidying up to.

I shall be getting a quote from the local gardening contractor to put this right and get the bill sent to the responsible party, but is this my neigbours problem, or the contractor?

Complain to your neighbour first, and get the builders it sort it out themselves, a bit of topsoil and turf should do it.

Yep.

We have a similar thing going on - the builders knew they'd do some 'colateral damage' before they started so the neighbour concerned came round and explained it all, and any damage done will be put right. I'm OK but another neighbour's lawn is pretty mashed up, and he'll get it returfed, plus a new gate by way of betterment.

softly softly with the neighbour smile

He is the employer and therefore carries the responsibility , imho of course .

I would say the builder is responsible. They're not 'employed' in the usual (PAYE) sense of the word, but contractors and will have their own PL insurance etc.

However I'd bring it up with the neighbour first, as he probably has a percentage of the money still to pay and therefore some leverage.

I also believe that the builder is at fault , but the neighbour has employed them smile so that is why I would start there .

It's the builder imo, he did it on the lawn, was the driver and he used the car. Now where's that Colonal Mustard?
