I moved into a new rented property back in september, got my first bill from NPower for gas and electric through the post on the 15th December. Paid on the 20th December when I got back from being away. Since then I have received a threat for payment, followed by a collections letter today - despite them acknowledging that I have paid and the account is fine. The collections letter is dated the 30th December so it was sent and processed well after the account was paid.

Not really happy about being harassed to collections level for a bill I paid within 5 days of asking, can anyone recommend a decent gas and electricity supplier with a UK call centre?

Not sure whether it's worth the hassle of switching. Just ignore the letters.

Used to be with npower in the past, current rental house is with scottish power (i'm not sure how good they are).

We're with British Gas for our electricity (don't have gas). They've been very good.

Npower supply our gas and electric at work and we have been trying to move from them for ages but they always managed to wriggle out of it. Many recorded delivery letters later and hopefully we will be switching away from them at the end of Jan.

If you use www.quidco.com and swap, some companies offer up to £120 cash back.
