Need a one piece, 12' rail. I don't want a centre bracket so will need to be stiff.
Curtains will be home made, with loops instead of curtain rings if necessary so diameter isn't critical.
I wondered if a scaffolding tube could be used. Any other ideas ?

John Lewis do a wooden pole up to that length.

Might bow over time though.

Thanks, I will give em a call, but I suspect that it will be 2 piece design with a centre bracket to support the join.

You could always try a metal pole.

Something between a scaffolding pole and a copper water pipe should be ideal.

I don't see how a 12' length of wooden pole can help but sag with curtains hanging on it, unless it's about 3" diameter. Scaffolding would do it though!

yes Would think 22mm copper pipe to be the ideal solution. Pop along to B&Q and have a look.
