Wet or Dry Rot???
Discussion
Had a bit of a nightmare last night. Was watching TV (wall mounted plasma) when it started flickering in a section of it. I went over to investigate the problem and discovered water running down the back wall and into the TV!
Sprinted upstairs to the bathroom and after some investigation decided the cause of the problem was failed grout round the tiles outside the shower. I pulled a few up (they came up worryingly easily) and discovered a right mess. See the picture below.
It's obviously rot and i'm going to have to take the first layer of the floor out (take all tiles up, shower out and plywood layer etc.) plus I think the TV is knackered (after drying out it's still got the flickering section) but the question is, dry or wet rot?
The wood is very wet and conditions seem very akin to those for wet rot but at the same time, those white tendrils make me worry it's dry rot...
