My new next door neighbours seem to think the pavement is where they can store their bins and recycling boxes. They've been sat outside their front windows (blocking up approx 50% of the pavement as well as looking s**t) for about 6 months now.

I've reported them via the council's 'fixmystreet' online forms. Am I being too fussy? I really dont want/feel like I should have to knock personally and tell them how to behave like a normal human being (every other house on the street, about 70 different houses, keeps their bins off the pavement).

You must live a stressful life if it bothers you that much you felt the need to contact the council.

What, that after 6 months I've decided to try and do something about it rather than allowing the street to look like a sthole?

How many times did you talk to your neighbours about this before reporting them to the local SS?

The irony is strong in this one

Why on earth do I need to knock on someones door and tell them how to behave? Some people get very arsey and its the councils job.

So instead of going around and asking them face to face, you grassed them up to the council?

What a cowardly thing to do.

Because you're the one who's got the issue with it? The irony is that "behaving like a normal being" includes having the wherewithal to talk to other people about something that might be bothering them. Rather than run off to the council and whinge.

Did you get your friends to tell girls "my mate fancies you", by any chance?

There'll be an article on the Mail's website in the future about someone getting fined for leaving the bins out and it'll be linked via a thread on PH where everyone will be taking the piss out of the council and all those who complained. thumbup

Hardly. IMO if you havent realised that you shouldnt be leaving your bins in the street after 6 months (when no one else in the vicinity does it) then you need a word from the council.

Unless, of course...and this is a real shot in the dark, you understand...no one's had the balls to actually tell them in the first place rolleyes

Why do I should I have to go out of my way to explain to these muppets what everyone else seems to grasp? The fact they continually leave them there suggests to me they are aware that they shouldnt be leaving them there.

The uk... London in particular is extremely multicultural.

Did it not cross your mind that they may not actually realise... or indeed care.

TBH st files, I suspect they left it out overnight to see if anyone complained. Nobody did so they thought it'd be fine...

Ultimately its not my job to tell people what to do with their bins, its the councils.
