Hi, ive just moved into a new house, and the home report for it mentions that I should increse the loft insulation to 270mm, at present the insulation is of varying thickness, with some parts of the loft being bare.
I am also getting the roof joists/rafters treated for common funiture beetle infestation so my question is should I remove the old insulation so that the wood treatment can be sprayed onto the wood as much as possible then lay new insulation, or just leave the old stuff, have the treatment done then lay down new insulation to make it about 270mm thick?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Where practiable roll it back into rolls. Then relay after the treatment.

you'll never achieve 270mm with quilt as logically it undulates if you catch mu drift. Aim for 350mm with another roll on top!

Do a search on this forum for 'Loft Condensation' before you make your mind up. wink

The recommendations given on EPC's in HIPS packs are standard tick-box stuf that take no account of the wider implications.

Yeah, you need to consider vapour control, ventilation and insulation as a whole.
