Whilst I don't mind a cold shower every now and again, one that fluctuates between ice cold and boiling hot is infuriating and indeed difficult to shower in...

I have a hot water tank (non-combi boiler) and a pump to increase the water pressure, the shower is fed by mixer taps from the bath. It only just started it last night. Any ideas what is going on?

I live in a hard water area so was thinking maybe the pump is getting build up in it, but it sounds like it is running fine and it's only 4 months old or so...

Any ideas?

Assuming the pump covers both hot & cold feeds then look at:-
Muck in the filters inline confusing the thermostat.
Low Cold water temp & the pump can't get enough hot water volume to compensate. I've had to turn the hot water temp on our tank at home because of this.

It is a hot and cold pump yes. I'll check filters tonight, hopefully they will be easily accessible.

Are you saying you had to turn the water temp up on the tank to compensate?

Cavitation in the pump? How hot are you running the water?

I think it's between 55-60 of the top of my head.

That should be OK. Have you got any air-locking? You'd hear it in the pump.

Hmm not sure. I'll have listen tonight. If I have how do I get rid?

Although sometimes when shutting off the taps it continues to pump in small bursts until you reopen and close the tap a few times. Not sure if it's related...
