After running the taps in the kitchen, we hear a tone from up above. Like the noise you get running your finger around a crystal glass, but bigger.
Any thoughts? The road did have an unannounced water outage a few weeks ago, wondering if that might have anything to do with it - i.e. running taps throughout the house without supply coming back in?

Water hammer, or maybe a small resonance from the ball float in the cold water storage tank if it is a small amount of water you have drawn.

Which taps does it do it with, and does it do it if you draw a lot or a little water (or both)?

Or give it a good prodding and chip some of the green crud off - it might work.

A float valve costs a fiver and takes ten minuets to change, so for me it is not cost effective to bugger about with the old one, but if time is not important knock yourself out.

Think it's just the hot tap .. and with a small amount (not noticed it when running bath)
