From a combi boiler, that is.

Until recently I had an old heating system with header tanks in the attic, now you wouldn't want to use water from the from the hot tap for anything else other than washing, but what about from the combi, is the hot water of "drinking" quality, alright for cooking etc?

Well, it's straight from the mains albeit, through the heat-exchanger first. I use it for cooking with no ill effects.

But you drank the cold, and that was only hot water before it was heated...

In the old system there was a cold water storage tank in the attic which held a head of water that fed the the hot water cylinder. This tank, although covered, was not the sort of thing that, if you looked in, you would want to drink from.

Now we have mains, through the heat exchanger, to the taps. So I suppose I was asking if the heat exchanger contaminates the water in any way.

It seems not.

Thanks
