Up and over garage door - how much?
Discussion
I have got a garage with a hanging round-the-corner door and it is proving to be a major problem finding anyone capable of making it properly operational as the bottom track which is set into concrete is burgered. It may therefore be easier to replace it with a manual up and over door, so can anyone give me a rough idea from experience as to how much this is likely to cost? I realise costs may vary depending on material.
Have you got any preferences on materials and finish?? A metal door is considerably cheaper than Wood or GRP...
Size of aperture?
It may well be that you can increase the size of the door as well, we opted to put our frames behind/inside the door opening, which gave us a few more cm either side
Of course depending on the internal space this may not be possible for you...
I think these

seemed the cheapest for us, considering all the options we selected.

Not yet. The garage is in a conservation area so no doubt the planners are going to want to have their £0.02'worth of say as to what material it is made of, assuming they even let us go from what there is at the moment to an up and over door!Hi Ken
I was in the same boat looking to fix a garage door that the bloke who sold me the house had bodged, looking on reviews Hormann seems to have a good reputation.
Ive just bought an up and over from this guy on ebay
http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/garage-doors-scotlan...
Got a pre-framed door, really easy to fit, just measure the opening, and check against the available sizes, delivered in 10 days.
Youll need a hand to help line it up, you simply bolt 7x brackets in place (3 either side, 1 on top)and line up the door. Door is prehung, with all locks etc. installed, Once bolted in and lined up, just seal the sides with sealant. No tensioning etc. needed. Brilliant quality and works exaclty as it should.
I dont know if he does the full range of Hormann's, but it might be worth asking.
I also spoke to these people when looking

Extremely helpful with the full range.
Hope this helps
