Maybe you overloaded it with warm items, triggering the thermostat to cool. Unveiling an underlying issue.

If its under warranty, (some) companys will let you claim for lost food. I managed to get something like £100 for all of the food in mine (photos of it defosted on my counter etc)

It is called 'Sods Law' I am very familiar with it. Just laugh and go shopping again and take it as a sign you need to buy different food.

My washing machine went on the blink last Friday, half way through a cycle.

Managed to get it drained, and called the engineer...or course when he appears the bloody thing works like clock work irked

Is it a frost free fridge?

Ours packed up a few months ago after a few days of being moisey

It was only 10 months old so had an engineer out who found that there had been a build up of ice that had stopped the fan working and therefore screwed up the 'stat.

Left the fridge unplugged for 24 hrs and the ice melted and all now OK!

And even if the warranty doesn't a lot of household contents insurance does (for freezers anyway, not so sure about fridges).
