Tortoises - Good pet?
Discussion
Kids are keen on getting a Tortoise as a pet.
I have read the wiki article and also some good information from various websites, but there is nothing like asking on here.
Is a Tortoise a good pet?
Can it be kept solitary?
Where is the best place to get one from and is there anything in particular to look out for health wise??
Im considering a non-hibernating type for all year round fun.

It makes no difference. You might as well get a hibernating one! Then at least you don't have to pay for it's food in the winter. It won't do much else other than eat.Edited by JakeS on Thursday 29th April 10:00

I had a tortoise for years - they do have character and can be fun. Mine used to chase the dog - they can shift quite well when properly motivated
You sellotaped lettuce to your dog's bottom?
They can't outrun hippos, it seems:

Thank you, that brightened up my morning.
