I have some questions, and a job...
Have moved into a place, and have got a 40ftx20 Liner pool. It's a bit knackered, and I'm having to learn about things very quickly. We're having a new roof put on it, but now the boiler has died (20 year old oil fired thing).

So, new boiler is required (how much?), and is there any way I can have a heat exchanger in the flue to get the heat transferred to the pool area? (How much?).

A good swimming pool het pump running at 5:1 will be a far better bet than a new oil fired boiler.

My brother has a swimming pool that costs a fortune to heat. He was talking to a fellow pool owner who uses solar power to heat the water and uses the pool nearly all the year.

As you are getting a new roof feed the water through it.

Is it an indoor pool?

I was talking to a friend's father the other night about his pool. He has estimated the total cost of using the pool for 1 evening with about 6 people costs him about appoximatly £45 with all the costs accociated, with 10-15 people it can be around £120. I felt a bit bad after the countless times we have been round for drunken parties spilling half the contense of our drinks in it!

Is the roof for the pool room and is the boiler for (just) the pool?

What heating is there in the pool room?

It's a stand alone building, with a gym off to one side. Currently there are radiators around the pool area, but unable to see if they actually do anything. There is HVAC ducting in the roof, but not connected to anything.

Currently there are 2 dead gas boilers in the pump room, and an oil tank and dead oil boiler outside.

I would want to get the entire working and balanced properly - HVAC and pool heating running off the same system (I assume this would reduce costs), and if I can re-use anything or use a renewable energy source, I'd be happy!

Solar + electric (timed overnight Cheap rate) you have to run the pump as well so that is on cheap rate.

Watch the max temp for the liner

and get a robot

What sort of filter ?

You can get an HVAC unit that incorporates; air heating, air de-humidifying & pool water heating. These can be supplied by a conventional boiler or an air or ground source heat pump or solar or all electric!

If you want you can send me an email with dimensions of the pool and pool room etc and I can suggest a unit for you.

Cheers
