How can people live like this?!

Mentally disturbed perhaps, and not all there but come on... frown

There are many, many more people who live like this than you could ever imagine. One of the services that my company provides is to clear and clean up these sort of properties, believe me those pictures are pretty tame. You should see a place where 8 or 9 junkies have been squatting for a year, or where someone died 3 months before and the body has bloated up and exploded, or...

Told all these stories on here before, just trust me there's a lot of it about.

br d ain't wrong though.

I see places like this maybe once a month, out of typically 30 house calls a month, so that's maybe around 3% of the population. Perfectly normal ordinary people, sometimes professional and middle class, well educated and in a decent job. If their friends or work colleagues could see how they live, they would be shocked.

None of those homes featured on 'How clean is your house' are inhabited by eccentrics or the mentally ill, and neither are the homes that I visit. They are just gobsmackingly lazy and gross.

I had to work in a rented flat with the Kitchen in a worse state than that yesterday, you could not see the bed in the bedroom. According to the lady in the lower flat, the washing had been on the line for 2 weeks frown 2 Small kids running around all over the place, I had the misfortune of having to work under the Kitchen sink frown Needless to say the letting agent is in for a big bill wink Some people are worse than Animals, utter scum frown

I did one just this Thursday gone J and J that you would not have been able to walk into without throwing up. The bloke was happily living in a place that hadn't seen a tap run for years. Blocked toilet, bath and basin full to the brim with excrement, filth piled in the kitchen higher than the window. It took an hours clearing just to find the sink. Mice running everywhere, newspapers from 30 years ago stacked to the ceiling.

This is not a one off.

The people that live in this dirt seem to adapt, they obviously aren't what you or I would call healthy but they seem to do well enough. This particular man was eating rancid plums from a filthy plate as we chased mice from his kitchen.

They're out there, and more power to them, makes me a very good living.

Mate that's merely untidy! I like what you did with the place after though.
I've seen millions spent on estates only for a sizeable number of properties to be rotten again after a year or two. It's a human right to live like a pig!

Then I simply could not do your job (I actually nearly threw up when we went to see our puppy, and the mum did a "clean up" then came to say hello me.....). I honestly thought that those "how clean is your house" type things were made a bit worse by the producers before the camera crew went in.....

We were once filmed for Life of Grime. The property involved wasn't particularly bad but they did everything they could to make it look worse. The producer tried to make us lie about the job and even asked us to act shocked and pretend we'd just arrived even though we'd already been on site for an hour. I refused to co-operate and it was never shown.

Reality TV is all bks.

Fair play to you, I've always said you can make good money doing manual labour type work which involves doing something 99% of the population wouldn't be able to.

Seeing you drive a ferrari this is obviously true!

I find it strangely fascinating this kind of thing tbh, but no chance have the stomach for it.

Had a housemate like that - perfectly normal she seemed, but her room was a right mess. Just like those pics you've posted pretty much.

One of my elderly relatives lives like this, the smell and piles of rubbish in the kitchen are shocking, not to mention that he has a garden full of rabbits/guinea pigs/hamsters/chickens etc. He recently found several thousands pounds he didn't even know were in the house. How much clutter would you need to have thousands hidden in used notes?!

The worst thing about the whole situation is that he lives in a semi-detached! Glad I'm not in the adjacent house!

The best part about the hole I was working in was when the tenant said to me 'sorry about the mess in the Kitchen its normally immaculate'

I could hardly keep a straight face rofl
