Washer Dryer Dead.

My advice: don't get another washer-dryer combo if you can help it. I've heard a disproportionate number fail early.
+1I have an integrated washer-drier and have had an engineer out 8 times since purchasing it new in October 08. I would never buy another combo and will never buy another appliance from the manufacturer. Appalling build quality

Which? best buys table shows:
Miele WT2670 priced at £1299 with an overall score of 76%
AEG-Electrolux L16850 priced at £545 with an overall score of 75%
and
John Lewis JLWD1609 priced at £649 with an overall score of 73%
I think if I remember rightly you get a 5 year guarantee with the Miele, a piddly one year with the AEG and a 3 year standard with the John Lewis - but with the JL one you can increase that to 5 years (DEFINITELY worth doing!) for another smallish wedge.
When I was looking I decided that I'd probably rather have 2 machines, and 10 years guarantee with the John Lewis one, for just over half the price of 1 five year guaranteed Miele.
I've heard anecdotally that although of course Miele are fantastic quality and built to last, they are not indestructible and if something does break out of guarantee then they can be expensive to repair.
I'm just waiting for my s
tty Hotpoint washer dryer to fail again (I am now easily into double figures with engineer calls within the last couple of years since we've had the ruddy thing) and then I will be down to John Lewis faster than greased lightening.
PS Ironically enough, the last washer dryer we had was an Indesit installed in the cheapest MFI kitchen that the developers could shove in, and yet for the 12 months we were in rented after moving from our apartment til we got our house, and with a newborn baby and the piles of washing they cause, it didn't miss a beat. The only reason I've ruled out getting another one and am going for the JL one is because Indesit are part of the same group as Hotpoint.
And yes, I know that this is slightly irrational, especially as possibly only Miele and Gorenje make their own machines, and everyone elses are probably reboxed and rebranded identikits, but the warranty issue is a big one with combined machines.

I've got Miele kit in a lot of my rental properties, and all of our kit at home is Meile too.
Went down the hotpoint/beko route to start with in the rental places, completely false economy. It's better to buy 3-5 year old Miele, totally reliable, never goes wrong unless you're very unlucky.
I've not had a single issue with about 12 units (mix of fridges, dishwashers, washing machines, washer/dryers) in over 2 years now. Not bad going as the only new stuff is our kit at home, all the rental places were fitted with S/H.
I guess parts for an expensive machine will be expensive (stands to reason), but the line of thinking is you'll be unlikely to need them.
