Hi.

We are planning to open up our Lounge, Dining room, and kitchen, and utilise so of the existing hall, to make a much bigger more open space which would allow us more space for kids toys etc, while retaining a dining table and adult lounge.

The house is timber frame so no issues structurally, but I would like the option to have the 2 areas divided, and able to be opened through when required. I've seen the nasty folding divides you get in hotels etc, and am struggling to find anything more elegant for a home use. Has anyone any experience of something they could recommend?

There is a home automation system going in for lights, projector screen, heating etc, so if it was motorised and could tie in with set scenes that would be a nice touch.

The screen is the dotted line in the proposed setup, and would be about 7ft long

You can get some good pocket door mechanisms (the door slides into the stud walling) - but not with the design you propose (which looks a bit awkward to be honest)

Who are you using for the lighting? (I'd guess Lutron wink)

Rako do a partition controller that when activated groups rooms together, so seperate rooms with the divider in place become one room when it's retracted.

Not sure on the lighting yet. Control
4 for the automation, so can get drivers for Lutron, raki, or might even try control 4s own stuff as I don't need anything much more than basic on off an dimming with a number of scenes
