Hoping for some advice please.

I planted some giner this week, when it came out of the packet, there was what I believe to be 2 new shoots. My question for those in the know. Would they be shoots or roots? I have planted the bulb of ginger assuming that they were shoots. Was that right?

My second gardening question, is that I have bought 3 Herbs today, (sage, oregano and thyme). Can I plant all 3 in one tub or do I really have to put them in seperate ones.

Like most plants the shoots grow first. Ginger will have small buds a bit like spuds have "eyes" that you plant facing up. From what I've read you have little chance of growing ginger outdoors in the UK. Even indoors it will struggle with our low light levels over Winter.

AS for the other herbs, no problem in the same container.

PS. thanks for the idea about growing ginger. I'll be giving it a go. thumbup

No worries, well something is growing at the moment, the shoots I make reference to have definately grown quite a lot in the week they have been in the ground.
