Ok this may sound odd, but I have been bitten by a spider 3 times.
My son (who has relapsed cancer) was out in the sun last weekend for 10 mins and got heat rash. He was uncomfortable and slept with my husband in our bed. He wanted me near by so I slept on the floor in my sleeping bag.
However I woke up on Monday morning with 6 equal bites on my forhead by my eyebrows and my eyes had swollen up and my husband said I looked like egor / frankenstiens monster. I had sickness and the runs for 3 days. The doctor said I was allergic to spider bites.
What I would like to know is how can I stop spiders coming into the house.
One suggestion was moth balls.
I have tried Conkers but they seem to have lost there smell.
Also I have a sound thing you plug in but as we have done the loft and had woodworm my hubby won't let me bring it down stairs. Do these things work anyway?
We live in the country and the spiders are as big as the palm of your hand (ok a childs hand as I not quite 5 foot!)
Please help me get rid of them! I had to stay away from my son for 5 days just incase it was a bug! (as he has no immune system to fight bugs) I don't need to go through this! And no I am not sleeping with an air gun! LOL
Thank you

I'll have a pint of whatever you've been drinking.

Seriously, can't you get a net to protect the infant? Spiders like shade so if you can limit that then they're more likely to move elsewhere.

If I were you, I'd move away from the rainforest.

I know this sound really odd, but trust me it does work (we live in the country too, and HATE spiders!). Spray some 'skin so soft - soft and fresh' dry body oil (from avon) around your windows, this will prevent the spiders coming in. I only buy this for its arachnid/insect repellent trait!

Conkers on your window are also meant to work, but they do need to be fresh.

I hope your son will be okay, and that you get your spiders under control.

Well, I guess one could use a Mosquito Net whilst sleeping. Just have to keep an eye out for them during the day.

My mum has conkers on the window ledges and near the door. Seems to work and they aren't really 'fresh' anymore. Personally whilst I dislike spiders I don't mind catching them and putting them outside.

Hate the bds.

Every one I see gets killed, as this is less to get me.. And you.

So help out and kill them all!

Conkers last for a few weeks I am told. You can get artificial spray that is mashed up conkers or sumsuch, and it will last for six weeks.

Here you go, Starbrite Spider Away:

http://www.starbrite.com/sproductdetail.cfm?ID=173...

Used by boating types to keep their p&J spider free when left moored. Just spray round doors and windows and any hopeful boris will do a swift u-turn. It's actually very effective. smile

I got one of these last year.

Spider Scarer

It seems to work. Haven't seen a spider inside for a while.

Fairplay, you are a total tripper!! Good luck in trying to stop the 8 legged freaks, they will get in, regardless of anything you can muster.
