I have a solid 6 x 3.5m patio concrete surface that was laid in haste (long story). It fairly level in places but pretty rough in others.

I don't want the expense of laying another surface on top (e.g. slabs) so i'm looking for a solution to smooth the surface of the existing concrete.

I know I can't lay a mortar mix at the sort of depths that I need to fill (2mm to 5mm) as it would crack to bits.

Self levelling compounds that can be laid thinly are for interior use only. Exterior grade self levelling stuff is 60 quid a bag, which is too expensive.

Does anyone know of a solution to smoothing off the surface by laying some product or know how I could mix up my own exterior grade levelling compound thant could be laid down to 2mm thick?

I'n not digging it up as its absolutely solid as it was C40 concrete left over from a retaining wall. Also I'm not laying another 50mm of concrete on top as the effort to get materials up to that level is a nightmare. It just needs smartening up.

Thanks

You can rent concrete scrabblers / grinders for about £75 /day which might be what you`re looking for to tidy the surface up
