I ordered 26 boxes of tiles from a popular orange coloured DIY shop.. (probably my first mistake)

Did a 100 mile round trip to collect them as I was being pendantic about getting them all in one go so they'd be from the same batch.

They were ready and waiting for me on a trolley, excellent so far!

Just come around to fitting them, 17 boxes of what I ordered and 9 of a slightly different colour/part number.

My fault for not checking every barcode/pack at the shop?

I've only done one row so far, I'm now worried about getting a naff colour match with the next 9 boxes.

I spoke to the store this morning and I've been nice and polite so far, but unless they can find me the tiles today I'm going to be without washing facilities until they can...

Go apest and demand compensayshun? take it on the chin and stink for a week (or however long it takes to find the right tiles)?

Any other ideas?

Or make the slightly different coloured ones a feature row or make a pattern with them.

(Yes I buy roll end carpets too) smile

shuffle them

Seriously if you shuffle the tiles before using them any slight variation in tile colour will be completely unnoticeable

Join a gym and shower there. You get to look at bouncing top-bks, and get to smell nice too.

Off topic:-

But anyone noticed the atrocious grouting/tiling on Gail's kitchen wall in Coronation Street....(Considering ex husband Joe (now dead) was supposed to be a kitchen fitter)..rolleyes

Assuming it's a bathroom- find an area that doesn't naturally follow on- ie the shower enclosure, which is seperate from the other exposed walls? If it has a tinted screen, all the better.
Pm me a plan, I will have a look ( having been a tiler for 10 years )

You went near a tile cutter and survived?

Did you stipulate that they all had to be from the same batch? or just thought they would be?

Lateral thinking, I like it.

Its different enough to look odd, even shuffled in. similar enough that It didnt stick out like a sore thumb when I picked them up.

Colour match probs from different batches I can live with, these are a completely different tile. (glossy rather than a matt finish)

Nice idea about making a line/feature, unfortunately because of the odd shape of my bathroom that will be somewhere between a complete ball ache, or impossible to make it look "right".

Already a member of a local one, I'm wondering what the reaction of the staff will be when I turn up covered in dust, grout, paint and whatever else, stinking to high heaven just to have a shower! smile

Which tile is it?

There will be a warning either on the box or on a sheet saying no claims after fixing, so don't do anymore until you get one batch all the same.

Indeed, stopped tiling the moment I spotted the problem.

The Orange DIY shop seem to have accepted responsibility, they have the tiles in stock (which I guess must be the ones I was supposed to have been given anyway!) they are just working out "what they can do for me"

I've told them to get the manager to stick them in the boot of his car and I'll see him later this evening! smile

If they do this all is forgiven!

Alas, no.

Never heard of it to be honest- I was a wall and floor tiler from school- paid for college with the proceeds.
Tend not to get involved too much now- I'm a qs by trade.
Suprisingly, I gave up tiling after I got, erm, run over.
More than happy to do what I can to help folk here though

If you're still stuck, put the offending tiles on a different wall - the angle/change in light should cover the difference.

How exactly is it their fault? Didn't you say the product code was different?

something gone awry with the quotes there..

I ordered 26 boxes of of the same part code, got 9 of a different part number mixed in with the good stuff.

Seems they have redeemed themselves, the manager is going to drop them off at my house tommorow!

Was expecting a call from him but not had it yet.... will wait and see if they come good on the promise!
