What Sewing Machine? - £150

Not me..but my mother is after a new sewing machine and has asked me to have a look. I dont have a clue about them at all but what recommendations does anyone have?

Are there any good sites to check reviews?

There are actually sewing machine shops - eg Franklins in Colchester. Might be an idea to find yours and pick the salesbod's brains.

My OH says what will it be used for and how much use?

Standard advice at that price is an older Bernina or similar bought used. Avoid cheaper new singers - she made that mistake and bought a better machine within 3 months (a janome)
