Price for upvc windows and doors!?

Over the next few weeks i'm getting some quotes for windows and doors for the house (smallish 3 bed semi).. I need a front and back door, 3 largeish windows, and 3 small windows plius fitting etc.
Had a quote off of a local builder (friend of a friend) for 2.8k all in, this seems cheap imo but i'm sure they are just the cheapest units you can get hold of.. what should i expect to pay for some of reasonable quality?

A bit off-topic, but make sure you have an anti-bump lock cylinder fitted to the street door. New tenants next to me had someone break in at 4.00 the other morning, straight in through the new UPVC door.

Good prices too.
Ask the builder which suppliers windows he uses so you can take a look at the desidn and quality. A decent one should have a 3-point locking system, locking handle and trickle vents. To comply with building regs, you'll need certain windows to have openers on full-opening hinges.

Good prices too.
Obviously hard to price without sizes but 2.5 to 3 k should easily cover it.
As a expample a composite door costs us £500 quid thereabouts so add on 20% margin and some £ss for fitting you shouldnt be paying more than £700 ish for front door, £ 400 for back door and obviously windows depend on the sizes
Check the spec of the units, we use rehau which is a german profile with good multi locking mechanisms. Dont forget fire escape windows need to be specified for upstairs.

Quick question re vents on windows.. our house was built in 1994 and each window has a small vent on it, apparently the windows that go back in have to have these vents.
but... looking at the other houses on the estate that have had windows fitted none of them have vents. A guy who has just been round said we have to have them, so how come the others have escaped it? they look mingin from the outside.

Tell him you got number of Paul Egan he will do you a mates rate special - I had 3 2m x1m windows and 3 1m x 1m windows all with light grey gasket seals instead of black,( looks better) Low emissivity, safety and K glass units plus a black top qulaity composite door fitted for about £2250

"trickle vents" - part of the building regs these days - you need to have some form of background ventilation available on every room ...most UPvC windows have them built inbut... looking at the other houses on the estate that have had windows fitted none of them have vents. A few places that i worked for had the "trickle vents" drilled underneath the frame. So any excess water would drain on to the window sil now this was goin back some years ago and it may have changed. but... looking at the other houses on the estate that have had windows fitted none of them have vents. Ask a neighbour if you can have a look at there's you will be looking for a hole about an inch long and 1cm wide roughly at either end this is what they may have.

I've got them done now thanks for all the suggestions, used a local company i the end.
Haven't got trickle vents (thank god they look horrible!) said only have to go in on new builds, my house has got air bricks which should provide adequate venting..
I got 6 windows, 3 are 2x1m ish, the other 3 are 1x1m ish and 2 doors, front door with a nice stained glass.. all coated k glass. was 3k fitted and they've done a belting job. so am happy.
