Just wanted to ask if anyone has any suggestions on how to get a fake concrete type look on my plastered walls, or even on MDF boards. I've seen it used in the showrooms in our local furniture store, in the BO Concept section, but when I contacted them to ask how to get the look, they told me that the boards were bought in through an interior design company.

I can imagine painting them a grey colour isn't really going to give the same sort of look, so I was considering using sponges with maybe a ever so slightly darker mix of the matt grey paint mix and then trying to blend it in so it gives the sort of darker concrete look around some areas.

If anyone has any ideas, that would be great.

Whatever you do, don't sit at the end of the dining table with the briefcase.

That might be possible with hardibacker/cement boards for showers etc. I stress the might!

Reminds me of a house I had to sell many years ago (was working in a Estate Agents at the time). It had been reposessed, but the previous owners had stripped the plaster off the walls and varnished the brickwork.

My advise after seeing that is plaster is a very good thing. It's been around for a few years and looks rather good on a wall!

I thought this was a polished plaster finish?

If not, pouring behind an ultra smooth former I would guess.

Looks polished to me - just like the floor in our warehouse which, I know was polished.

looks to be polished concrete. Applied by mixing a thin slurry of conrete and using a float on the wall to create an ultra smooth finish. You should be able to find a guy to come in and do it for you?

It was odd. Also either had a bad roof leak or condensation problem, as water ran down the walls like a river. I think on this occasion it was the later.

me too.

our (office) reception has a coloured polished plaster.

It's awful but I am sure that's how they do this (concrete alike finish too).
