Hi, I've been offered one of these.

Just wondered how much they cost to run, and will I regret installing it?

Ta

ETA, we will have an oil boiler for heating and hot water as well. Does that make sense?

YOu can have them adapted to have either back boilers or an internal boiler in place of one oven or cooking area. Otherwise they`re great as they heat the room they`re in (durrrr, obviously), whilst also being nice to cook on, quickly warm things up or whatever.

Don't know specifically for your Rayburn, and it will depend somewhat on size and condition, but our four oven aga goes through anywhere between 30-50 litres a week depending on the season and weather. So for some people, that`s simply too much, for us it's just fine as it also doubles for heating much of the house (with a log burner in the other end), so our actual use of the boiler is minimal so what fuel we use on the aga, we save on the boiler...

Also worth noting, they're not exactly cheap to install, and whilst it's out, you may as well have it reconditoned, repacked and tidied up as it's a bugger to take apart and do later once it's installed...

I have one in the kitchen.. A Rayburn Royale.
Used it as a big radiator during the winter for the first year I lived here but didn't appreciate how much oil it burned. It has been a much admired... but redundant.. kitchen "ornament" since then. Next time the kitchen gets a full refurb I intend to replace it with one of the Esse Multi Fuel Ovens to get the radiator effect with a proper flame since there is something nice about a hot oven in the kitchen
