Replacing internal doors

We are going to replace all the crappy old internal doors in our house with new 6-panel white ones, so will need 7 in total.
Where is a good place to buy from who will deliver (Bristol area). I was thinking wickes but maybe somewhere else does bulk cheaper.
Also, does anyone have advice on how to fit hinges, handles and the catches and then hang them straight?

Ive just done all ours, got them from a local builders merchant - theres not that much discount available on them to be fair unless you are buying hundreds, ..Wickes will do what you want for a fair price
I wouldnt attempt to learn to hang doors though on brand new ones if youve never done one before, id pay a joiner to do them, it will be worth it and save you pulling your hair out
a joiner will make it look easy...

I've just had a couple of 6 panel doors hung inc trimming etc - my builder got them from Magnet (which has a branch in Bristol)
He charged us £165 per door all in - not sure how that compares as I didn't get alternative quotes but I was very happy with the quality of workmanship and wouldn't have attempted it myself.

I did exactly this a few years ago. I got them from Wickes, about £17 IIRC. Howver in hindsight I'd pay extra for the fully finished ones as painting doors is very tedious and takes time and space.garycat said:

Unless you are a competent DIYer then I'd get somebody else to do it for you.First, some if not all the doors will need cutting to size - use the old doors as a template. With luck an electric planer is all you need to adjust but proceed with caution.
Screwfix did hinges in exactly the same pattern as the old ones but nickel instead of brass colour, so I could re-use the holes in the frame. From there it was fairly simple to chock the door up a little with a magazine or two and affix them to the door side.
The hard part will be drilling the opening edge to take the lock. With care you can do this freehand with somebody holding the door firmly, then chisel out the remainder. You may also need to move the striking plate and make a new hole in the frame.

Remember the cheap wood doors are hollow - take too much off the top or bottom and the formed outer of the door will be flapping around because you've cut away too much wood. In this case I've planed a bit of wood to fill the hole in the bottom of the door and give it some strength back.
Painting them is a pain - best to lie them flat with no fittings on, do the detail stuff with a brush, then the large flat areas with a gloss roller to give the best finish.

whats a regular joiner charge? £45 per door? ...or £45 first door, £35 subsequent doors once on site
I had 16 internal doors done, he was here 4 days, cost me £600 inc new stop lats everywhere (different thickness doors)
