I have just discovered that artificial sweeteners were originally designed as an ant Killing powder. I crumbled up a few 'pills' on the ants marching route a couple of days ago and it does eem to have had an effect.
Now i suppose i need to give my kitchen a good clean to dissuade them from coming back.

Leave a bowl of syrup outside in the garden. They'll come to a sticky end.
I did this with some neat ribena and powdered synthetic sweeteners in a tuppaware bowl. The next morning the bowl was upside down. I now feel guilty cos 'my hedgehog' probably had a go at it Edited by fido on Thursday 1st July 13:05

Giant Anteaters mainly feed on ants and termites, and they have been known to eat up to 30,000 insects per day. They also eat soft bodied grubs and occasionally fruit and eggs.
They rip open ants nests and termite mounds with their clawed front feet and they use their long , sticky tongue to eat their prey.
