I've got friends and family visiting for a week in August so only need a temporary barbeque.

However it's going to take some heavy usage as there will be around 20-30 people to cook for everyday.

What would you recommend, I need something for a good price but don't really need anything as a permanent fixture in my garden. Has anyone bought anything this year they they really like, how much did it cost you?

(also some recommendations for good barbeque recipe books would be appreciated)

for 20-30 people I'd get a couple of oil drums and make my own.

Failing that, the biggest weber you can, but you're still going to have waiting people smile

This.

Or build something out of bricks that you can take down again after.

Loads of good barbecue recipes over in the Food, Drink & Restaurants forum too. thumbup
