Having a nightmare at the moment, looking to buy a sofa for a new flat and been to DFS, CSL, etc and they're all ste and overpriced, unfortunately I don't really have £2,000 to spend outright on a sofa, any decent brands that are reasonably priced brands that aren't crap worth looking at? Looking for a 3 seater chaise...

Are there any DECENT companies that offer 0%?

Apologies for boring topic/being prime scum/not shopping at Harrods wink ...

I'll second that, pretty hard wearing stuff too, I've heard of a few people putting them in rental flats and they stood up to a fair bit of punishment.

Have you noticed how the DFS / Homebase sofas in the adverts on TV and in print NEVER look the same scale when you actually get to see them? Do they build larger versions for adverts, or just cast little people to sit on them?

Also, a friend recently showed me some fairly well priced sofas in the tesco catalogue.. cant vouch for the quality though.

In the end I bought a second hand Chestfield set. Its been brilliant!!

They cast smaller/thinner/petite agency. My missus does extra work and her agency supply dfs extras and there all below 5'5 in height.

I'll third this. Very pleased with my leather IKEA sofa. 2 years old and still looks brand new. Cheaper and feels better made than anything I looked at in the usual places.

Note IKEA have different price points for their sofas. Some are 'nicer' than others.

these guys buy all the excess stock from the big brands - you won't get finance (I think) but they're cheap and decent quality - online shop + a couple of warehouses if you can get there.

On a side note don't buy into the sale crap from the big retailers - they sell at full price 2 months a year and are on sale the rest of the time - the real prices are the sale prices - I do business with quite a few of them and it's all promo rubbish!!

I was in the same situation a few months back, and looking around Ikea several times I found that unless you spend around 1k on one of their 'premium' sofas they were utter st - basic, boring design and like sitting on a rock.

Ended up going to DFS in the end and got a clearance sofa from in the back for what in my opinion was a cracking price.

Expensive though, I simply do not have the cash to whack down on an expensive sofa straight away frown I suppose that's how DFS, CSL, etc get you though isn't it? frown

If you go to a quality independent furniture retailer, they can do you a good finance deal on quality furniture. This will circumvent laying out heavy £££ on something straight away.

Broadly whereabouts in the country are you? I can point you in the right-ish direction to have a look

Northwest, Warrington, Specifically!

I don't mind paying £2,000 for something that'll last, but am I fk spending it on ste from the likes of DFS, SCS, etc.

Serious question: Why doesn't a company who sells quality furniture set up a shop with the same payment scheme as DFS/SCS etc? I'm sure they'd steal away a lot of customers?

ETA: Are Furniture Village any good?

Just too note, we bought our leather large corner sofa from SCS 5 years ago and it still looks fantastic. Its original price was £1,800, we waited a while, eventually we got it for £1,100 (it was the last of its line) can't complain yet.
