So how many people on here never use their bath? I never use my new bath, but had it fitted it anyway because it might be tricky selling the house without one.

I don't use it often but I wouldn't be without it. Sometimes I need to soak and ponder before making a insightful post about the state of the world.

If a house didn't have one it would be a huge black mark against it

Then again I don't see why a modern house needs so many bathrooms, lots of pokey bedrooms with ensuites isn't something that appeals to me.

A bath is a bit like a lawn. They don't get used much, but not having one just seems wrong.

Never, I have two the things and have lived in the house for 14 years. Shower only. Quick and easy, and easier to shave in the shower.

The might be quick and easy but they aren't as relaxing, after 14 years you have probably forgot what your missing.

Neighbours had theirs removed and a shower cubicle fitted instead. Personally, unless there was some very strong point in its favour, I wouldn't consider such a property.

The usual load of crap. Rather like those apparently removing the kitchen to have a bigger living area, as they 'never cook'. You can feel as modern as you like, but at some point you'll want to sell it. And most of us would point and laugh at you.

I have to use the bath and it is so relaxing, the shower is currently in pieces in the garage awaiting a new base to be put in the bath room, it's been like that for about six months.

We all use the bath in our household. Sometimes it's convenient to just jump in the shower, but most of the time we make the time to take baths instead.

When we were househunting last year, we discounted a number of otherwise very nice properties immediately because they only had shower rooms. Didn't even go to view them, no matter how nice they were.

I have a bath with shower and use both. The house is approx 27 years old and not got the space for a separate shower cubicle and I don't think that's neccessary anyway smile

I never had a bath in either of our previous two flats and I have never had a bath in our current house. My wife, however, loves taking a bath and baths are a necessity for young kids.

Women love baths. Kids need baths. I only ever take a bath on ski holidays.

We've got bath and a shower in the master bedroom's en-suite. I've used the bath exactly once in eight years as I much prefer a shower in the morning. The other bath in the house is only used by guests and then only occasionally as they usually shower, too.

One day I'll rip out the shower and bath in the en-suite and build a wet-room walk-in enormo-shower.

I understand some people like a soak but for me personally I've never understood why you'd want to lie in dirty water!

It's most hilarious in 2-bed new builds. Friends of ours had one where the main bathroom was about 3 paces away across the landing - but there was an en-suite as well. I swear that from one side of the bed, it was actually closer to get to the main one than the ensuite!

This was the exact dilemma i encountered while refurbing my 2 (and a half) bedroom detached cottage with space for side extension (STPP). The existing bathroom was large enough for a small shower and small bath, but i didn't like the prospect of having no bath so ended up with a large bath and quite a bit of wasted space. In any case, i got so used to the ensuite electric shower that i no longer use the bath, except to dry the umbrella and for guests.

Same as this.

I dislike showers, and like baths.. Its time to relax, you can have a bath in 5 minutes too if you want, so not always quicker.

Doesn't bother me about the amount of water used really.

Showers when I'm in a hurry, but I try to take a bath at least once a week because I think its good to stop and chill every now and then.

Also I'm not sure the enviro b*stats on showering versus baths take into account the amount of water a modern power shower with a 35kw combi-boiler motors through.

Its got to be quite alot, especially as the water doesn't go cold in them like old houses.. In them if you showered until you ran out of hot water you'd be alot quicker than these modern showers that can go and go.

Imo.
