I need an isolator for a bathroom extractor and the electrician i use seems adament it must go on the outside of the bathroom and be mounted above the door.

Now i understand it must be outside the bathroom but surely it could be mounted in my airing cupboard which is about 3 ft away from the door, i really don't want an isolator randomly placed on the wall. He did say i could use a spur and in that respect i could buy a nice one which matches everything else but surely the airing cupboard would be ok?

Spurs for house pump and whirlpool pump are both in there anyway.

Thanks smile

mines on the bathroom ceiling by the door. I seem to remember checking this beforehand. I see no reason for it to be inside as long as it is rated for the relevant zone.

When we built our extension, the fan isolator switch for the en suite was placed high up on the wall of the walk-in-wardrobe next to the en suite.

No issue with building regs and all certificates for the wiring were duly issued.

So (although I am not a 17th edition spark) you should be fine.

It's about putting it somewhere obvious/easy to find too. Airing cupboard should be fine.
