Existing mixer valve for a shower, with H & C pipes through the wall. Does it matter which one connects to the hot supply?

Thanks in advance.

It would help that the HOT PIPE is connected to the Hot Inlet and COLD to the Cold Inlet.

If not when you twist the control knob for HOT it will supply cold and vice versa

Yeah, & the thermostatic thingy won't work with hot in the cold.

Hot is usually on the left when looking at the wall.

Some showers you can get away with it. Some you can turn upside down and some you can turn the cartridges around.

But if its a thermostatic one, it will throw a wobbly!
