I need to replace my Dyson but don't really want to pay £200 for another.

Are ther any others you would recomend?

Do a search, this comes up often.

Henry- cheap and indestructible, good on solid floor, less so on carpet.
Dyson- much better on carpet, fixed price service available for £69 all in.
Miele and Sebo also get a mention in most threads.

ETA- we should have a poll...

I asked this very question over a year ago (I think).

Bought a Sebo....can't go wrong.

I've even found you can be a bit pikey; empty out the bags into the wheely bin a re-use them smile

Henry!

We had a Dyson for a couple of years, long ago, but the performance dropped off very quickly. Even after I battle to change all the filters, strainers, gauzes etc it still sucked. or rather it didn't.

The latest Dysons are a bloody sales gimmick, looking more like something off Battlestar galactica than a home cleaning device!! Chavsville unlimited. "Oh yeah, Sharron, we gotta getta new Dyson, y'know".

Henry for me. You know where you stand with a basic simple Henry. biggrin

Though I do beleive there is a pink version, Henrietta, for the ladeez.

Tried many over the years, including 2 Dysons (NEVER again!) Ended up with a Miele which is still as new after 2 1/2 years. Available in a few different versions. OH has had hers for at least 10 years!

Why didn't you tell me that while I was parked beside you at Rownhams FFS? smile

Contrary to many on here, I find the Henry to be a hateful piece of crap, and if it weren't for the fact it were a "gift" from a kind relative I'd have "accidentally" ended it's life prematurely smile

Just my tuppence worth hehe

It has always sounded too good to be true, but according to someone on a previous thread it is 'good as new' or a replacement. Anything and everything can be replaced. It'll be my first call when mine conks out next.

O/T: Very happy with my Vax, inc. customer service, not so with landlord's hoover.

Miele now well over years old and whilst a little scuffed still works as well as ever.

We've got a Hoover HU4197. Had it for a couple of years and still going strong. Plus it's only £80 in Tesco.

I'd be interested to know why a number of people think their Dysons were so bad... We've had ours for 9 years and I agree that we did begin to notice a drop off in suction, however, a quick look on google revealed that the exits to the cyclone nozzles can get clogged up.... Checked mine & that was indeed the problem. Cleaned it out and it was transformed & beats anything else I have seen / used...
