Quick question - why do so many kitchens have the built in oven next to the built in fridge freezer? Surely this makes the fridge warm when you use the oven??

No, not really wink The fridge is well insulated to keep it cold, ovens are generally insulated to keep them warm, so there is little transfer of heat from the hot oven to the cold fridge… I've had my fridge/freezer next to my oven in the past 3 kitchen designs and never had any issues.

It's probably more to do with the aesthetics of design - easier to have a built in oven in a tall housing which then sits to a tall fridge/freezer. I'm sure there are probably good design rules, tested by cooks over countless generations, which have led to this happening - all I can say is it's handy being able to grab the pizza from the fridge and fire it into the oven without having to walk across the kitchen laugh

drgav is right, also think that there is usually 36mm of chipboard seperating the appliances, some of the large kitchen sheds softwear wil block this andl not allow this to be drawn on thier cad

Generally you want to design around a working triangle consisting of the preparation area including the fridge, the cooking area hob & oven and the wet area sink, dish washer etc. It's simple and effective rule.
